Plaque #4- Turkey and Poppies
1999
The Turkey was once in the running to be the national symbol. Benjamin Franklin championed it's clever behavior as an appropriate hallmark. It was a fitting inclusion to the discussion of symbols.

The red poppies where originally included in this plaque for thier bright red. It was an aesthetic decision. Much to my delight, I found that the paper poppies created for sale to help our veteran's were made at this Veteran's Home.
